We've got your technology under control

When is end of support?

Support for Windows Vista ends April 11, 2017. There will be no more security updates or technical support for the Windows Vista operating system. It is very important that customers and partners migrate to Windows 7. Customers moving to a modern operating system will benefit from dramatically enhanced security, broad device choice for a mobile workforce, higher user productivity, and a lower total cost of ownership through improved management capabilities.

What does this mean to you?

It means you should take action. After April 11, 2017, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for Windows Vista. Security updates patch vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malware and help keep users and their data safer. PCs running Windows Vista after April 11, 2017, should not be considered to be protected, and it is important that you migrate to Windows 7 so you can receive regular security updates to protect your computer from malicious attacks.

Will my PC stop working if I don't upgrade?

No. Your machine will continue to function. What you will notice is certain pieces of software will stop working correctly. Examples of software that has already stopped support and no longer update include Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Adobe Reader. These have an effect on your web browsing and some sites will not load correctly, if at all, without the proper updates.

Will my machine be able to upgrade?

This is a case by case scenario. Some machines running Vista are fully capable of upgrading to a newer version of Windows. Some are not. We can evaluate your machine and help you with the process.

Can I upgrade it myself?

If you have the knowledge, yes. Upgrading from Vista to a newer version of Windows requires more than a download or a software disk. Unless you are familiar with the process we recommend bringing your machine to us so we can do it for you.

Can I upgrade to Windows 10?

Yes and No. Windows Vista is not capable of being directly upgraded to 10. But it can still be upgraded to 10 by other means.
